Dear colleagues from the zoo community. Thank you for your interest in the conservation of Sulawesi freshwater fauna. What is happening on the island and the rate at which we are losing the beauty of this unique laboratory of evolution is alarming. We don't want to just watch and we believe that zoos can make a significant contribution to positive change.

Freshwater fauna does not receive the attention it deserves, even more so the invertebrates. We therefore invite all those interested in cooperation who can contribute to research, knowledge and protection of freshwater fauna – let's get together.

Let's:

  • create new educational programs focused on freshwater invertebrates
  • establish a Freshwater Invertebrates TAG
  • exchange breeding experiences
  • intensify ex situ conservation breeding
  • find ways to support in situ projects
